Horseback Riding

One distinctive of Deer Run is the popular Horseback Riding Program.    This has been one of the most popular activities at Deer Run since 1964.   Approximately 40% of of the Deer Run girls take riding lessons each session.

In 2008 we constructed a new barn and riding corral which we feel is the nicest facility at any New England camp.  The facility can house up to 14 horses and includes an enclosed tack room and a changing/bathroom.

The horsemanship program is designed to help campers develop skills in riding, horsemanship, grooming, safety, and care of the horses. Our staff instructors are certified by the Certified Horsemanship Association. Campers must be 10 years of age or older by June 1st in order to register for this activity.  Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis by mail only and is limited to 40 participants per two-week session.
